The Evaluation of Container Terminal Efficiency Using by Cluster and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

Abstract

At the present time, Turkish container ports have large container terminals, where the highest traffic volume of the Europe has been achieved. Due to increasing volume of international trade, ports required to review their performances regularly in order to use their capacities optimally. Effectiveness and efficiency has become more and more important, when evaluating ports’ performances. Because of competitive and environmental effects on ports’ economical structure, they need to use their limited resources as efficient as they can. This paper the efficiency of ports and their corresponding container terminals, which have an positive impact to country and located region’s economical structure is analyzed. In order to measure terminal efficiency, inputs and outputs decisions have been based on operational efficiency. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been used, moreover, efficient and ineffcient ports have been decided relatively.

Kümeleme ve Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) ile Konteyner Terminal Etkinliklerinin Belirlenmesi


Öz

Günümüzde Türk Konteyner limanları Avrupa’nın trafik hacminin en fazla olduğu konteyner terminallerine sahip limanlar konumuna gelmiştir. Uluslararası ticaretin artmasıyla birlikte limanların kapasitelerini optimal kullanabilmeleri için performanslarını düzenli gözden geçirmeleri gerekmektedir. Liman performansının değerlendirilmesinde etkinlik ve verimlilik kavramları önem arz etmektedir. Konteyner limanları rekabet veya çevresel etkilerin yarattığı olumsuzluklara karşı verimli çalışarak sınırlı olan kaynaklarını tasarruflu kullanmak durumundadır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de ülke ve bölge ekonomisine doğrudan katkısı olan konteyner terminallerin etkinliği analiz edilmiştir. Konteyner terminal etkinliklerinin ölçülmesinde operasyonel etkinlik temel alınarak girdi ve çıktılar belirlenmiştir. Yöntem olarak Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) kullanılmış, etkin ve etkin olmayan limanlar göreceli olarak belirlenmiştir.
